I had an amazing night. Skinny of it is that I was invited to attend the Saints preseason game. What happened was that I got to be a guest (via the Archbishop) of Tom Benson, owner of the Saints at the Superdome. Before the game, we celebrated the Eucharist. I served. I was shaking in my boots because I was serving for the Archbishop, my new boss in front of my future target audience (GW)! After mass, we went down to the field. I took a lot of photos. I also got my picture taken with Tom Benson, his wife and daughter. After that we went back up to the suite and watched the game. It was an amazing view. I am not going to talk about the wonderful food. And this is for Ronald Buford, yes, I saw Drew Brees.
Words cannot describe the sense of awe I have for what has happened in my life. Since April I have been in a whirlwind of activity. I am settled in seminary and our first week has ended. I have much work to do and a busy schedule to get used to.
The bottom line for me is that I truly feel like the prodigal son who squandered the riches his father gave him and on his return to his father a huge party was thrown. I am very much aware of the huge amount of grace God has poured out on me. I am very much humbled by everything everyone has done for me. I know that without God none of this would be possible. It makes me all the more committed to the path I am on. Finally, while I know I am a miserable sinner and I don’t deserve any of this; I am extraordinarily blessed. Thank you all for your prayers. Thank you God. I love you.
